reusing a skirt

It's so much fun reusing things!! I haven't done much yet but I am liking it more and more.

A couple weeks ago I bought some clothes off of a girl. She had this really cute skirt which was a little too big for me but I liked the details on it so I got it anyway. My first idea was to turn it into a pillow case but I really wanted to use the waistband so I thought it would look best on a purse.
This is what the skirt looked like. Isn't the stitching pretty?

I started cutting off the waistband and cut out some of the plain brown part to make the bag a little shorter. I put some pleats in and then cut out the corners to give the bag a bottom. It is still pretty long, but I will just use it as a large shopper. :)
Next I cut out the zipper, put a hot pink lining inside and attached a pair of fake leather handles I already had at home.  Voila - done! :)
