Kids lounge pants

 Last evening I was browsing the www to find out how to make lounge pants for kids. And no, I don't call them pajama pants because I don't want my kids to catch on fire at night. Because that might just happen to your little one if he wears loose pajamas while sleeping. If you don't know what I am talking about, you either don't have kids or you don't read the selvage of cotton flannel fabric. muahaha
They turned out a little longer than wanted but I'll just leave it this way. I also have to buy some of the wider elastic band to use for the next pair. This one was only 1/4" wide which works but I think a wider band would be more comfy.

my first skirt

I have never made any clothes before other than a pillowcase dress. I was always very interested but just like the free motion quilting it scares me somehow. :/
A while ago I found this easy sewing pattern on etsy. You don't need a special foot for it, only elastic sewing thread and a thin elastic band.
And when I say it's easy, it's REALLY easy. It takes a little bit to make the waste band but other than that, I had it finished within a few hours.

I bought this really cute fabric today I wanted to use for this project.

+++

Then I started cutting and sewing with the famous stretchable thread. It's not as scary as it sounds.

+++

And this is what the finished product looks like! Unfortunately it turned out too big for me. BUMMER!!! Not sure now what I will do with it. I think I will buy the same fabric again and make another one but a little bit smaller.

free motion quilting

For some reason I am very scared of free motion quilting. It looks so pretty but also seems very complicated!
Today I found a tutorial with a few pictures and a short video, and maybe I am finally ready to give it a try.
One lady once told me to have a glass of wine right before because it makes it easier to move the fabric around and not being so stiff in your arms and hands. haha. If that's not motivation enough! ;)

Mug Rugs, part II

Just finished the other 3 mug rugs this morning.

This one is one of the two I send out for the swap. I really like the color combination.

And this set I will keep for myself. But now I am too scared to use them and mess them up.

Mug Rugs, part I

I signed up for the Mug Rug Swap and I just realized yesterday that they have to be send out by tomorrow! I started working on several different color combinations and two will be for the swap, two for myself :), and one for a friend. Here are two that are already finished. I tried to adjust the colors a little bit after I uploaded the pictures but I probably shouldn't have done that. I am very bad in changing the colors in pictures.

I've got the pattern from this website. I think he is the first guy I've seen that quilts! Love the pattern!

Dreieckstuch or droolie as I like to call them

What did she just write? Dreieckstuch? If you would pronounce it right you would probably sound like having a bad cough. (At least that's what my husband says German sounds like.)
In Germany we use these for babies when they start drooling. They look a little more fun than the regular bibs I guess. They come in all kids of different sizes and pattern.

So why do you see a robot wearing one? Well, with two boys in this house this is the closest thing to a doll I could find.

Welcome ~ Willkommen

I am not new to blogging, it was just time for a fresh start. I was one of those people whose last blog was showing pictures of a Halloween project......I know, right? =)
So off to a better blog with lots of great projects to share!
